What is reflexology?
Whilst reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China it was not until 1913 that it was introduced to the West by Dr William Fitzgerald. He noticed that there was a connection between reflex areas on the hands and feet and other organs and systems of the body. In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham further developed this theory into what we now know as reflexology by observing that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body. The entire body is mapped out on the feet and is worked through systematically by the reflexologist during a treatment. Reflexology is a complementary therapy which works on the feet to help heal the whole person (mind, body and spirit) and not just the prevailing symptoms.
